Along with Himalayan Ascent, Allan and I are currently planning to lead two groups of trekkers into Everest Base Camp in April and May 2012.

The dates are:

7th April – 26th April 2012

28th April – 17th May 2012

If you’re only going to do one trek in your life, for many people, Everest Base Camp is the one to do. The trekking route winds its way up the Khumbu Valley, home of the Sherpa people, and each new day brings with it a new vista of impossibly steep and daunting mountains, as you gradually move higher and higher until you finally reach Base camp, at the foot of the Icefall and the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest.

One of the real highlights of this trek is that you’ll get to meet the Himalayan Ascent Mount Everest climbers and spend two nights in Base Camp. You’ll even get the chance to have a quick tour of the lower (and safer) part of the Khumbu Icefall, and perhaps even try your hand at ice-climbing on some of the ice features which surround Base Camp.

We have designed the 20 day itinerary to incorporate a diverse array of cultural and natural experiences. Your trip will commence in Kathmandu where you’ll have a few days to take in the sights, sounds and smells of this exotic city, before embarking on your flight to Lukla, the gateway village to the Khumbu Valley.

Over the next 10 days you’ll pass through numerous Sherpa villages, including Namche, Tengboche, Pangboche, Dingboche and Lobuche, before arriving in Base Camp at an altitude of 5,300 m.

Along the way you’ll see numerous Himalayan peaks, including Ama Dablam, Makalu, Baruntse, Nuptse, Lhotse, and of course, Mount Everest.

The Everest Base Camp trek will be lead by Sharon and Allan Cohrs, and each night you’ll be staying in a comfortable lodge (except for Base Camp, where you’ll be staying in tents).

Our Everest Base Camp trek is suitable for those who enjoy walking and have a moderate to good level of fitness. You won’t need to be a professional triathlete to complete the trek, but the fitter you are, the more enjoyable the experience will be.

Group sizes will also be kept to a maximum of 12 persons to ensure a personalised service.

The cost is $2995 per person.

We will also be co-ordinating an on-line training program, to ensure that you gain maximum enjoyment from your experience in the mountains.

Please register your interest, as number will be limited.
